The Cat House Rescue is a group of foster homes in the Leeds & Bradford areas. Founded in July 2021, we have grown to a small but dedicated team of fosterers, saving 50-100 cats off the streets each year.
The rescue was founded in June 2021. The rescue was founded to help the overwhelming number of male stray cats found out on the streets who struggled to find rescue spaces, as charities were forced to prioritise pregnant cats and kittens and struggled to find spaces for the boys.
As a result The Cat House Rescue was founded to provide rescue spaces for male street cats.
While we do have a dedicated foster home for mums and kittens found out on the streets when no alternative is available, our main focus is on helping stray male cats (which we affectionately call street boys!) and FIV+ cats.
In 2026 due to rising vet costs and food bills we downsized to 3 foster homes and a heated outdoor cattery cabin. Our focus for 2026 and onwards is to focus on helping people with the rising costs of neutering and helping communities with large stray cat populations about the need for spaying and neutering. This (hopefully!) will reduce the overall need for rescue spaces in the first place.
Here at The Cat House Rescue we believe every cat deserves a chance. We have a strict no euthanasia policy. The only time we put a cat to sleep is when they are terminally ill and their illness has got to the point they are suffering and the best thing we can do for them is to help them go in peace.
